Home Office Fees 2018/19: ILR Naturalisation, British Citizenship

This relates to Home Office Immigration and Nationality ChargesBritish Citizenship Fees | Indefinite Leave to Remain Fee 2018 effective from April 6, 2018. Apparently, the Home Office Fees 2018/19 will increase more than the UK inflation rate of 2-3%. ILR fees will increase by 4%. Accordingly, from April 6, 2018, indefinite leave to remain fees will be £2,389; whereas, leave to remain application will cost £1,033. Similarly, the British citizenship fees will be £1,206 and Naturalisation Fees £1,330, inclusive of £80 ceremony fee. The Tier 1 entrepreneur extension fee will increase to £1,277. Moreover, Tier 1 investor extension fee will escalate to £1,623. Similarly, Tier 2 extension applications will cost £704 for 3 years or less and £1,408 for more than 3 years. However, BRP fee will remain at £56.

Most noteworthy: the Home Office usually revise Immigration Fee on an annual basis. However, from October 8, 2018, the Home Office has incorporated a new category relating to Appendix EU. The announcement does not affect fee for applications from insides the UK under any of existing categories.

Naturalisation Fee & ILR Indefinite Leave to Remain Fees 2018/19

From April 6, 2018, the ILR Fee will increase by 4%. Accordingly, the indefinite leave to remain fees will be £2,389 instead of £2,297. The substantial escalation in the ILR fees amounts to £92. Moreover, the leave to remain fee will increase by £40 and the new fee will £1,033 instead of £993.

Naturalisation Fees | Home Office Fees 2018/19

The Naturalisation Fee will increase by 3.7% (£48). Accordingly, instead of £1,282, the naturalisation fees will cost £1,330. However, the naturalisation fee includes the citizenship ceremony fee of £80. The naturalisation fee for British overseas territory citizens has also increased by 3.9% (£38). Accordingly, it will amount to £1,000 instead of £962.

The Home Office made profits of up to 800% on some immigration applications from families. The cost to the Home Office of processing a naturalisation application is £372.

Leave to Remain Fee | Immigration and Nationality Charges

The leave to remain fee will increase by 4% and with an increase of £40 and the new fee will be £1,033.

British Citizenship Fees | Immigration and Nationality Charges

The nationality registration fee as a British citizen for adults will increase by 3.7% (£43). Accordingly, the British Citizenship Fee for adults will cost £1,206 instead of £1,163. However, the British Citizenship Fee is inclusive of citizenship ceremony fee of £80. 

British Citizenship Fees for Children

The nationality registration fee for children will increase by 4.0% (£39. Therefore, instead of £973, it will be £1,012. Additional £80 per applicant to cover the ceremony fee if the minor turn 18 during the application process. Applicants can make the payment at the point of decision.

Significant £51 Increase in Immigration and Nationality Charges

There will be a significant 15% (£51) rise in the fee for Renunciation of nationality, Certificate of entitlement (right of abode) and Nationality review. Accordingly, the application fee for these services will be increased from £321 to £372.

However, there is no change in the Home Office Fee for:

  • an application fee for leave to remain as a visitor – £993
  • biometric residence permit (BRP) / replacement BRP – £56
  • biometric enrolment – £19.20
  • european residence document (registration certificate, a document certifying permanent residence, residence card, accession resident card, derivative residence card, permanent residence card)- £65
  • administrative review – £80
  • processing an application which is subsequently rejected – £25
  • arrangement of a citizenship ceremony (including the administration of a citizenship oath and pledge at the ceremony) – £80
  • administration of a citizenship oath, or oath and pledge where the oath, or oath and pledge, are not administered at a citizenship ceremony or by a justice of the peace – £5
  • Life in the UK test – £50

Tier 1 Extension Fees 2018/19

The fee for Tier 1 Entrepreneur leave to remain and extension applications will increase by nearly 4% (£149) and will be £1,277, instead of £1,228. Likewise, Tier 1 (Investor) application fee from inside the UK will also increase by 4% (£62) and will be £1,623.

The fee for Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) initial application will be substantially reduced by 48%(-£141) and the new fee will be £152 instead of £293; however, the fee for approval letter from a competent authority in respect of the initial application will increase by a whopping 56% (£164) and the new fee will be £456 instead of £292.

Tier 2 Fees 2018/19

All types of Tier 2 applications fee from inside the UK will increase by 3.8-4.2%. In absolute terms, the most significant rise of £54 will be for Tier 2 (General), (Intra-Company Transfer) – Long Term Staff, where a certificate of sponsorship has been issued for a period of more than three years as it will increase from £1,354 to £1,408.

Tier 4 Fee 2018/19 | Immigration and Nationality Charges 2018

The Tier 4 Student fee from inside the UK will increase by 3.9% or £18. Accordingly, the new fee Tier 4 Fee will increase to £475 from the current level of £457.

Tier 5 Fee 2018/19 | Immigration and Nationality Charges 2018

The Tier 5 Temporary Worker fee from inside the UK will increase by 3.9% or £9. Accordingly, the new fee Tier 4 Fee will increase to £244 from the current level of £235. Moreover, the Tier 5 applicants are eligible for a Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC) discount of £55 applies for the main applicant.

Home Office Fees for Applications Made from Oct 8, 2018

From October 2018, the Home Office has introduced a new fee category relating to applications for leave to remain under Appendix EU. Accordingly, the application fee for a leave to remain Appendix EU for Adult and Child are £65 and £32.50, respectively. However, the Home Office immigration fee for all the other categories has not changed. Furthermore, for clarification purpose, details of Home Office Immigration Fee for all categories from October 8, 2018, are as under:
