This relates to Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Immigration and Nationality Charges effective from February 20, 2020. Apparently, there are no changes in the Home Office Fee for applications made inside the UK. Therefore, the Home Office Fees from Feb 20, 2020, for indefinite leave to remain (ILR), British citizenship, Naturalisation, EU Citizens, PBS Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 4 students and Tier 5 applications will remain the same.

Please note; the Home Office revises Nationality and Immigration charges once every year during February-March. In fact, the charges are payable under regulations made in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 68 and 69 of the Immigration Act 2014. Therefore, there are no hidden charges in the Home Office Immigration and Nationality Fee 2020/21. Moreover, the UKVI offers a number of premium services for ILR, leave to remain and other types of applications from inside the UK. Accordingly, applicants can use priority and super-priority service to fast track their applications. However, applicants need to make separate payments for these premium services.

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) Fees 2020/21

Evidently, from February 20, 2020, there will be no increase in ILR Fee. Accordingly, the indefinite leave to remain (ILR) fees will remain at £2,389. Perhaps, the ILR fees are applicable for all types of indefinite leave to remain applications from inside the UK.

Home Office Fees for the same-day ILR applications

Apparently, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for the same day (24 hours) processing of Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) or no time limit (NTL) applications are £3,189/- i.e. ILR application fees £2,389/- plus the cost of super-priority service £800.

What is the purpose of the same-day ILR service?

In fact, the Home Office’s same-day service is only for straightforward ILR applications. Accordingly, the mere purchase of the same-day service does not guarantee a prompt or favourable decision! Therefore, if an ILR application is complex then there is no point of paying the fees for ILR same day service. Apparently, if an application is not straightforward then instead of a same-day decision, an applicant may receive the following communication from UKVI/Home Office:

We are sorry that your case is outside of the published service standards. We aim to complete all applications within the 24-hour service standard. However, where we are not able to do this we will complete the application as quickly as possible. If the delay in making the decision is due to UKVI, we will refund the super-priority service fee. The team will be in touch once they have made a decision.

Home Office Fees for Leave to Remain Applications 2020/21

Apparently, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for leave to remain applications is £1,033. Moreover, the leave to remain fees with priority (5-day) and super-priority (24-hour) service is £1,533 and £1,833/-, respectively. Perhaps, the leave of remain fee is not applicable for all types of leave to remain applications from inside the UK. For instance, leave to remain or extension applications under PBS have a different fee structure.

Spouse Visa Fees

The UK spouse visa fees 2020/21 for leave to remain and ILR applications are £1,033 and £2,389, respectively. In fact, the UK spouse visa fees for leave to remain and ILR applications with super-priority same day service are £1,833 and £3,189, respectively. Moreover, the UK spouse priority visa fees 2020 for leave to remain or extension applications are £1,533.

Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)

Perhaps, there will be no change in the Home Office fees for Biometric residence permit (BRP) card. Accordingly, the fee for Biometric residence permit (BRP) / replacement BRP is £56. Moreover, the Biometric enrolment fee will also remain at £19.20.

UK Naturalisation Fees 2020/21

British Naturalisation Fees 2020/21

Apparently, there will be no increase in the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for British naturalisation applications from Feb 20, 2020. Accordingly, the British naturalisation fees will remain at £1,330, inclusive of the citizenship ceremony fee of £80.

Naturalisation fees for British Overseas Territory citizens

The naturalisation fee for British overseas territory citizens is £1,000.

British Citizenship Fees 2020/21

British Citizenship Fees 2020/21 for Adults

There will be no increase in nationality registration fee as a British citizen for adults from Feb 20, 2020. Accordingly, the British Citizenship Fees for adults is £1,206, inclusive of citizenship ceremony fee of £80.

British Citizenship Fees 2020/21 for Children

The British nationality registration fee for children is £1,012. However, the Home Office will charge an additional £80 per applicant to cover the ceremony fee if the minor turn 18 during the application process. Apparently, applicants can make the payment at the point of decision.

Nationality registration charges for British overseas citizens

Nationality registration charges for British overseas territory citizen, British overseas citizens, British Subjects, British protected persons are £901 and £810 for adults and children, respectively.

Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Citizenship Ceremony

Evidently, the fee for the arrangement of a citizenship ceremony, including the administration of a citizenship oath and pledge at the ceremony, is £80. And £5 for the administration of a citizenship oath, or oath and pledge where the oath, or oath and pledge, are not administered at a citizenship ceremony or by a justice of the peace.

Home Office Fees for EU Citizens and Non-EEA Family Members

Home Office Fees 2020/21 for European Residence Documents

Apparently, there is no change in the Home Office fees 2020/21 for European residence documents. Accordingly, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 is £65 for the following residence documents relating to EU citizens and non-EEA family members:

  1. registration certificate
  2. a document certifying permanent residence
  3. residence card
  4. accession resident card
  5. derivative residence card
  6. permanent residence card

Leave to remain applications under Appendix EU

In fact, in October 2018, the Home Office introduced a new fee category relating to applications for leave to remain under Appendix EU.

Accordingly, the application fees for leave to remain Appendix EU for Adult and Child were £65 and £32.50, respectively. However, from Feb 20, 2020, there will be no fee for applications made under Appendix EU. And also no fee for the processing of an application made under Appendix EU which is subsequently rejected as invalid.

Biometric Residence Card under EUSS

Evidently, application for Biometric residence card under the EU Settlement Scheme costs £56.

Innovator Visa under Appendix W

The Home Office Fees for UK Innovator visa leave to remain or extension applications are £1,277. Moreover, a Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC) discount of £55 applies for the main applicant.

Start-up Visa under Appendix W

The Home Office Fees for UK start-up visa leave to remain or extension applications are £493. Moreover, a Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC) discount of £55 applies for the main applicant.

Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Global Talent

Moreover, the Immigration and Nationality fee 2020/21 for Global Talent initial application is £152. And also the fee for the approval letter from a competent authority in respect of the initial application is £456. Furthermore, the Home Office fees for Global Talent subsequent application for main applicants and dependants is £608. However, a CESC discount of £55 applies for the initial and extension applications of the main applicant.

Are Home Office Fees Refundable?

Yes, if applications are unsuccessful or withdrawn, except for declarations of renunciation, then the fees for Naturalisation and British Citizenship applications are refunded after deducting administration charges of £25.

Furthermore, the Immigration and Nationality fee 2020/21 for Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur extension applications is £493. Moreover, a CESC discount of £55 applies for the main applicant. Evidently, the startup visa under Appendix W has replaced the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur for fresh applications from July 6, 2019. However, existing migrants on the Tier 1 Graduate entrepreneur route can apply for leave to remain and extension.

Apparently, the Immigration and Nationality fee 2020/21 for Tier General dependant applicants will continue to remain at £1,878.

Skilled PBS Tier 2

Evidently, there are no changes in the charges for Points Based System (PBS) Tier 2 leave to remain and extension applications from inside the UK. Please note a Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC) discount of £55 applies to the Tier 2 main applicants.

Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Tier 2 General

The Home Office fees for Tier 2 General leave to remain and extension applications are £704, where a COS has been issued for a period of 3 years or less. However, where a certificate of sponsorship (COS) has been issued for a period of more than 3 years then the Tier 2 General application charges are £1,408. Accordingly, the Tier 2 General extension or leave to remain application fees with priority service are £1,204 (for up-to 3-years) and 1,908 (for more than 3 years), respectively.

Tier 2 General Shortage Occupation

Evidently, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Tier 2 (General) shortage occupation where a certificate of sponsorship (COS) has been issued for a period of 3 yrs or less is £464. And the application charges are £928 where the COS is issued for a period of more than 3 years.

Tier 2 Intra-company Transfer (ICT)

The Home Office fees for Tier 2 Intra-company Transfer (ICT) Long Term Staff leave to remain and extension applications are £704, where a COS has been issued for a period of 3 years or less. However, where a certificate of sponsorship (COS) has been issued for a period of more than 3 years then the Tier 2 ICT Long Term Staff application charges are £1,408.

Moreover, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Tier 2 (Intra-Company Transfer) – Graduate Trainee is £482.

Home Office Fees 2020/21: Tier 2 Minister of Religion

Perhaps, the Home Office Fee 2020/21 is £704 for Tier 2 Minister of Religion main and dependant applicants.

Home Office Fees 2020/21: Tier 2 Sportspersons

Perhaps, the leave to remain or extension application fees for Tier-2 sportsperson are £704.

Tier 4 Students

Evidently, from Feb 20, 2020, there are no changes in PBS Tier 4 student visa fees from inside the UK. Accordingly, the Home Office Fees 2020/21 for Tier 4 student leave to remain and extension visa is £475 for main and dependant applicants. And the leave to remain or extension visa fees for Tier 4 students with priority or super-priority service are £975 and £1,275, respectively.
