Tier 2 Priority Service Timeline UK Priority Visa Fee

For applicants, who are either extending or switching to a Tier 2 visa, from inside the UK, by using the Tier 2 Priority Service the service standard is to process such applications within 10 working days (or two weeks) instead of 8 weeks.

Customers applying to remain on a temporary basis including as spouses, workers, Tier 1 general and entrepreneurs, students and organisations seeking to sponsor a worker 8 weeks (10 days priority postal and same day premium)

Request for Inclusion in Tier 2 Priority Service

In-country Tier 2 Applicants, intending to use the priority service, are required to email at prioritypostalrequests@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk the Request for Inclusion in Tier 2 Priority Form after 8:30 AM (Mon-Fri). Only sixty (60) requests per day are entertained and an email is sent to the successful applicants with a link to the online Tier 2 Application. Accordingly, after filling the form a Tier 2 Applicant is required to make online payment for the Tier 2 Application Fee inclusive of the Priority Service.

The Tier 2 priority service is for people who are in the UK and:

  • want to make an initial application under Tier 2
  • want to change their employment or extend their stay under Tier 2
  • have a work permit and want to extend their stay under Tier 2

Only the first 60 requests received each day after 8:30 am (Monday to Friday) are accepted. You will get an email saying if you’ve been successful, along with a link to apply online.

Tier 2 Visa Application Fee and UK Priority Visa Fee

The Tier 2 Visa Application Fee from inside the UK, i.e. for in-country applications, ranges from £446 to £1,354 per main/dependant applicant depending on the time duration and the sub-category. If the main applicant is a Macedonian or Turkish national then he/she is entitled to receive a Council of Europe Social Charter (CESC) discount of £55. However, the Priority Service Charges for all types of in-country Tier 2 Applicants are £459 per applicant i.e. if the main applicant is applying with 2 dependants than the payment for priority service will be 1,377 exclusive of the requisite Tier 2 Application Fee.

Accordingly, for an online Tier 2 Priority Visa Application, an applicant is required to make the following payments from April 2017:

  • ICT – Short Term, Skills Transfer and Graduate Trainee £922 per applicant (£463 Application Fee + £459 Priority Service Charges). For instance, an in-country Tier 2 Priority Application of Main Applicant with 2 dependants will cost £2,766/– instead of £1,389/- for standard service; however, it is going to save the applicant 6-8 weeks of waiting time. Therefore, applicants need to calculate their affordability and cost for value threshold.
